Do you happen to have an affinity toward adventurous sidescrollers and bunnies? If so, Holobunnies might be the game you’ve been waiting for! Developed by Montreal-based q-bit games, Holobunnies features a cast of four rabbits who one day find that some evil creature has stolen the eyes of their precious pet Machete. Apparently they can still live without eyes… but it’s really creepy looking. In any case, the bunnies head out to find said eyes and maybe even discover the beings behind this incident.
Players can embark in a single player adventure where each character has their own special attributes. Or, they can combat each other in a local battle mode. Of course, players can also work together via local co-op too. Unfortunately, it doesn’t appear any online modes are in the plans. As you explore, you’ll discover secret areas behind “fake” walls, fight enemies, and avoid deadly spikes. The balloon-like holobunnies seem to pop if they come in contact with spikes. The visuals showcase q-bit’s very charming pixel art skills. Each plump bunny is adorable with its small smile and jaunty walk.
Interested in giving the game a try? If you’re a PC gamer with Windows, Mac, or Linux then you’re in luck! Wii U owners will also get their hands on this upcoming title. Interestingly, there’s also a “surprise platform” listed as well. Perhaps they’ll be coming to the PlayStation Store? That certainly seems one of the most indie-friendly platforms as of late. The Holobunnies Kickstarter requires $15,000 CAD (about $13,000) to be a success.
