While not yet on Kickstarter, and no current set date to launch that I’m aware of, another point-and-click adventure game is planned to seek funding through the site. Gleipnir sets forth to tell the tale of two smiths named Mr. Tiny and Mr. Tall as they set out to gather the ingredients needed to forge a chain to keep the mythic beast Fenrir from running amok. Aside from what has been released of the comic the game is based on and a very short demo there is currently little to discuss on this project, but from what I’ve seen it looks promising.

Gleipnir

So, who let the dog out and why does it have Asgard (or the setting’s nearest equivalent) up in arms? And why does Loki seem nonplussed by the news? Will Tiny and Tall be able to get everything needed to forge the links? Or will the world be doomed as the populace is taken for Fenrir’s chew toys? I’m sure that when Gleipnir is finished we’d find out. The comic itself only goes so far as the two unlikely protagonists only manage to get the first item on the list and a clue to the second.

Gleipnir

The very early alpha demo for Gleipnir that I managed to get my hands on covers very little in the way of story other than Mr. Tiny needs to find Mr. Tall’s smithing hammer. It does give a good indication on how the game will play and it looks like your standard point-and-click fare. You take items, combine them to make other items, and use said items on other objects to be able to get more items. What else were you expecting? It’s a one room tech demo.

Still, based on the comics and demo for Gleipnir this one has the makings of an interesting adventure game. And a unique take on the ancient Norse legends.
