Developer Smashworx has released a new gameplay video for their upcoming rougelike game, The Hero Trap, this week.
After a small hiatus, the developers have updated backers on what they’ve been working on for the game, which included redesigning some of the core elements of the game like the AI and some of the gameplay mechanics. The game originally was supposed to have a switching mechanic that allowed you to switch heroes on the fly, but that has now been removed. Players will now be able to choose between a boy or girl main character, and the original cast of “heroes” will now be bosses in the final game.
The developers also revealed the new story of the game, which involves a demon stealing your character’s bike and riding it down into Hell. The main goal in the game is for the player to retrieve the back the demon stole. Having said that, the developers are now looking to change the title of the game to something a bit more inline with what the game is now about. Here’s their ideas:
- DAMN! The Devil stole my Bike
- Bicycle of the Damned, Go to Hell and Ride it Back
- Handlebar to Hell
- Beelzebike
Finally, a new gameplay video was released to show off the updated game, you can check it out just below. Stay tuned to Cliqist for further updates on The Hero Trap, or whatever the developers decide to call it in the near future.
