If you’ve never played the Wing Commander series and are a fan of space flight/dogfight sims then you have seriously missed out on some great games. The series may not be around anymore, but you can totally still grab them on GOG, at least.

Last year, composer George Oldziey (who previously worked on three of the Wing Commander game soundtracks) launched a campaign to do an orchestral recording for Wing Commander music. The fanbase turned out in droves resulting in a successful campaign to the tune of over $40,000.

Want to get a taste of the orchestral work? Oldziey has uploaded a video and backer update titled “Wing Commander 4 Intro Remix.” As the name implies, it’s the introduction to Wing Commander 4, with original video included, overlaid by the brand new orchestral recording. The quality of the video isn’t ideal, as the sound levels of voice acting are lower than the music, but it gives a great taste for what backers can expect to get on the album. Check it out:

Glad to see the BL visual novel Sentimental Trickster was funded. How about those #Kickstarter stretch goals? https://t.co/AEU8LaeD6M - 6 years ago
