I gotta admit, I still haven’t bought into the whole E-Sports thing. It’s not that I have a problem calling competitive gaming a sport, because I can appreciate the amount of skill and training that must go into performing at a championship level. However, I’m old and bitter so I’m jealous of the idea that people half my age can make a living doing something they love.
Enter StarCraft 2 Visual Novel, or SC2VN, a visual novel about the stressful world of competitive gaming. SC2VN was funded on Kickstarter in October 2013 after it raised a bit over $8,300, and it’s finally got a release date. On September 7th you’ll be able to able to jump into the shoes of Mach, an up and coming Starcraft 2 player that moves to Korea to try and make it big. As one might expect, once Mach leaves everything he knows behind drama ensues. It could make for a great time.
SC2VN was originally promised to be available six months after the Kickstarter, a deadline the developers obviously missed. However, updates have been consistent and the game is almost out. Best of all? SC2VN will be available for free upon its release.
