It was only last month that we had an update on Scraps – Story of a Dog which explained the game was being put on hold but would still be made and another update has swiftly followed, even though the message is generally still the same.

Solo developer Fredrik Strøm had previously explained after being made redundant from his job for the second time in a year his energies were focused on finding employment but that Scraps would still be made. This latest update takes the form of a brief gameplay video with a voiceover from Frederik confirming his employment situation has not improved and additionally a medical condition is causing further issues for him (although he stresses this is not an excuse).

Fredrik does deserve kudos for his honesty and frankness of the current situation, while the fact it’s an audio update certainly helps with the novelty factor as well as reminding backers it’s a human being behind the Kickstarter – the poor guy genuinely sounds fed up and frustrated with the situation. No revised release date is yet forecast but there don’t seem to have been any complaints from any of the 34 backers, and I remain hopeful Scraps will eventually see the light of day.
