Sci-Fi time! So this week’s Kickstarter eye-candy, in my opinion, is Quantum Suicide. So this little visual novel has me feeling a little mixed, but I decided to throw in my dollars. In just one day Quantum Suicide was over 50% funded and currently only has to raise $4k more of its $30k goal to be funded. I’m not really one for dating simulators unless they’re Hatoful Boyfriend, but Quantum Suicide genuinely looks like it’ll be more story driven than most dating sims. With 6 courtable characters but 30 different endings, I’m sure some of them must leave you single.

What caught my eye about this Kickstarter was it sounded a lot like 2001: Space Odyssey with maybe a dash of Freedom Wars or Enders game. I’m a sucker for Sci-fi (Sci-fi and Horror are my beans on toast when it comes to gaming) so naturally I read into it. It is still a little cliche with a little anime fanservice that I shan’t complain about, but it has also made some odd decisions. The vocals of this game will be in Japanese even though it is a native English game. One of the stretch goals is to fully translate it into Japanese, but for the English version we just get English subs. This just seems a little bizarre to me. I suppose if they plan to translate the game into multiple languages but keep the character voices consistent it might be good. I’m surely not the only person who has started watching a subbed anime before only to hear the dub and cringe (Kagome’s English dub in Inuyasha is the one that murders my soul). I feel like the creators might be trying tool hard to appeal to Otakus and that’s the reason they’ve chosen a strictly Japanese cast and use words like ‘Waifu’ and ‘husbando’ but it’s not something I hate.

There is so much Fan service in this picture it's a work of art. We have a panty shot, reference to gaming and a Twilight Sparkle reference all in one shot. "While Quantum Suicide does not contain any adult content, there will be a certain amount of 'ecchi' or suggestible content."

“While Quantum Suicide does not contain any adult content, there will be a certain amount of ‘ecchi’ or suggestible content.” Also, why are they using a Playstation 2 controller in the year 2127?

At the end of the day, they’re offering to make a game with over 50 hours of gameplay and a catchy soundtrack and that will keep them in my good books. This is their second launch of a Kickstarter for this game, the first fell short by just $8000. My inner nerd wants this Kickstarter to succeed so I hope to see it funded within the next 25 days.
