After a couple of less than inspiring updates towards the end of 2015 there finally seems to be some positive news for Yes, Your Grace. Developer Brave at Night have now confirmed they’re now working with a publisher who have crucially provided them with a full-time programmer to assist with finishing the game.
Polish publisher One More Level may only have released three games so far but their support could be crucial in ensuring that Yes, Your Grace ever gets completed. The development team may have had plenty of enthusiasm but their inexperiene was evident with the poor planning that had already seen the game well overshoot the planned release of August 2015. I had actually already resigned myself to never getting a return on my pledge due to all the warning signs including silence on social media, a lack of any tangible signs of progress, tales of financial woe and the development team returning to their university studies which left them without their main programmer.
There was also a major misstep in the December update with the announcement that Yes, Your Grace would be simplifying the resource management areas of the game (one of the key attractions for backers) with an apparent focus on real-time strategy elements. This led to an outpouring of criticism from backers although it now seems that Brave at Night are hopefully listening to this feedback.
The other bit of good news from this latest update includes a new schedule with an aim to get a playable version of Yes, Your Grace to backers this Summer. With the involvement of a professional publisher I’m a bit more confident there will eventually be a finished product, although I’m not getting carried away in terms of my expectations of the quality of the finished game.
