Visual novels are a pretty popular gaming genre on Kickstarter. Whenever one comes along I have to check it out. I love a good visual novel, especially if it has potential LGBT elements to it. A great story also is a must these days. And, Women of Xal most certainly looks to fit both criteria with a beautiful visual look to it.

Women of Xal

Women of Xal tells a story about political machinations in a matriarchal society as several women vie for control of an all male brothel. Of course, intrigue is sure to ensue but that’s not all that’s being promised here. You don’t even have to get all cutthroat and draconian either. You can try to get along with the other girls or you can be as dirty as you want to be to climb your way to the top.

However, while the above machinations are certainly a selling point for me there’s more that I love about Women of Xal. I’m always on the lookout for games that have queer themes. This one definitely has the option to woo one of the other women, in addition to the guys you’d be in charge of. That’s right, you can choose to have a straight or gay relationship. With ten potential love interests, five of each gender, there’s a lot of replay value here.

Women of Xal

I do really love all of the concepts being touted in Women of Xal. There’s a lot to love about this visual novel, and one I definitely want to keep an eye on. Whether I back it or not, I do hope the best for them. In the meantime, I will be giving the demo a spin to know if I really like what I see.
