dinorun2Everyone loves dinosaurs, don’t they?  How about pixelated dinosaurs?  Those are cool, right?  Ok, so how about pixelated dinosaurs running for their lives while destroying everything in their path?  Now take that and put it to an awesome retro-rad musical score and you’ve got a sequel to the enormously popular Dino Run.  Yes, it’s Dino Run 2

Dino Run 2 should look familiar to anyone that’s familiar with the first, but with that comes a ton of upgrades.  Graphically things are looking much more detailed than the first, with more vibrant environments, nicer dinos, and a better sense of size and scale.  Then there’s the dinosaur customization, improved physics, and an all new musical score. Arguably the most impressive new feature is the platform agnostic multiplayer.  Before you open up a tab to Dictionary.com; agnostic multiplayer means that you’ll be able to play online against other people regardless of the platforms involved.  You’ll be able to play on your PC against your unemployed cousin on their 64 gig iPhone 5s.  It’s not a feature you see very much.  The last time I played against someone on another platform was Quake 3 Arena on the Dreamcast; but that’s most likely a testament to me being old than the scarcity of the feature.

The team at Pixeljam appear to have already put quite a bit of work into Dino Run 2, and while the $175,000 their asking for might seem like a lot, their track record speaks for itself.

The Dino Run 2 Kickstarter campaign runs until December 5th.
