The ability to slow down time, or even stop it, whenever you please. When you are still, time is still. In a first person shooter this sounds pretty freaking advantageous if you ask me. The ability to just halt to strategize your movements and avoid fire is innovative and could be genre changing. And that’s just what Superhot aims to do: completely change the way we look at first person shooters.
Back in 2013, the Superhot team had released a bit of a demo or prototype for Superhot during the 7 Day First Person Shooter game challenge that took off among the indie gaming community. People just couldn’t get enough of it. Popular “let’s play” Youtubers raved about the game’s innovative nature and the potential for a major profitable production. All the voices were heard by the Superhot team and they decided to give the game a boost and fund it through the people.
The new Superhot is still following the same concept: shooting in first person and pausing time when you’re completely still. But this will be a full-fledged game that is going to be bigger and better.. Instead of just shooting, there will be, wait for it, slow motion explosions. A single player campaign mode will be implemented that’s not intended to dominate gameplay, but swing it along. Plus, an infinite mode for players who just don’t want the fun to never end.
Remember the explosions? Now you have a bigger palette of weaponry to choose from, including machine guns. More enemies, more levels, it’s all going to be bigger. On top of just Mac, PC, and Linux support, the game can be played on the Oculus Rift now.
The Superhot team is using Kickstarter for funding $100k and they already have over $170K raised with 26 days to go.
