Sad news today for backers of the deep space sandbox game Hadron’s Forge.  Arcane Logic updated their Kickstarter campaign with news that they were cancelling the funding for Hadron’s Forge.  Here’s the update :

Hello fans of Hadron’s Forge!

We really appreciate your interest and support for our project. It means a lot to us and the future of Hadron’s Forge.

Due to the culmination of events, it is clear that we will be unable to continue with this Kickstarter as we had planned. Even with these events unfolding as they have, we tried to continue. We dug in and tried to “power through”. Last night, when we were hit with more challenging news, we came to realization that we needed to stop, take a step back and deal with these issues. Then we can regroup and come back stronger.

This campaign has been a tremendous learning experience. And most of what we learned came from you! We feel like we’ve gotten to know many of you through your comments, messages and conversations. You provided great feedback and suggestions, and we will incorporate all of that as we plan the next phase in the development of Hadron’s Forge.

It goes on to give information on how to stay in touch with the team, and follow it’s development.  The good news is that it looks like the game is still in development, the bad news is that it sounds like there was some personal tragedy within the team.  According to an update sent out last Sunday, lead programmer and producer Mike Beerman had a closer family member pass away.  Priorities being what they are, the well being of ones’ family takes priority over game development.  Hopefully everything looks better for Mike and his team in the future.
