heartforth2Heart Forth, Alicia has already decimated its initial $60,000 goal, and is now being funded to the tune of $107,000 at the time of writing. The great thing is that there are still 26 days left on Heart Forth, Alicia’s Kickstarter, and filmmaker Alonso Martin is now looking to stretch goals for his 90’s-inspired Metroidvania title. I’m a sucker for Metroidvania, and if you’re interested in the genre, you’ll probably be interested in this campaign.

Our story begins on a floating island that was once home to many users of magic. These days, however, only two remain. A dark power comes to the village, killing some and turning others against their own kind, and in all of the excitement, you end up falling off of the island – through no fault of your own. Combat will be flexible, and your character will constantly be growing, learning new multi-purpose spells and encountering more and more powerful adversaries. While exploring the 12 regions of a massive, beautiful, and expansive world, you’ll encounter fairy companions, cities, friends, and foes. Exploration and Action/RPG elements define the gameplay, and everything about the Kickstarter suggests that this is going to be the title to watch for any fans of platformers, RPGs, Metroidvania, or just video games in general.

Heart Forth, Alicia has already completely dominated the original goal of $60,000. On the way to the current pledged sum of approximately $107,000, New Game+ and Challenge Dungeons have been unlocked as stretch goals. Coming up on the $110,000 mark is a PS4 release, and soon after that Mac and Linux. At the current level of funding, Heart Forth, Alicia will be coming to PC, both through Steam and DRM-free retailers. Go check out the reward tiers, listen to some sweet tunes, and see some gameplay!
