darkfieldvr2There are many games out there that are significantly more fun when you bring on the multiplayer playability. But let’s take it up a notch, what about virtual reality games with friends? Going on an adventure in Space, fighting against hordes of ships and breaking into space stations and exploding them! Friends wreaking havoc among the galaxies!

For that, we have VR Bit’s recent project and Kickstarter launch for DarkfieldVR.

DarkfieldVR is a co-op virtual reality space and dogfighting simulation game. The gameplay is mainly mission driven, throwing players in a military squad stressed with several responsibilities including: squashing every enemy pilot that dares come near you, protect civilian convoys, and destroy many ginormous space structures.  The multiplayer mode is should be challenging but that isn’t all DarkfieldVR has to offer. Players will also enjoy a small Holodeck singleplayer experience that allows them to explore the truth behind the conflict at hand happening in multiplayer mode.

Players will choose one of 4 different elite fight pilots, each uniquely skilled and equipped with particular ships. In multiplayer mode, there can choose between six different ships, all differentiating in build, class, speed, and weaponry. Afterwards, the players team up and can communicate with their friends by short radio transmissions during their missions.

DarkfieldVR is designed for virtual reality devices such as Oculus Rift, CastAR, and Samsung’s GearVR, but is playable without them using a regular ol keyboard, controller, or joystick. DarkfieldVR will be released on Windows, Mac, and Linux.

Now, VRBits has been working on DarkfieldVR for roughly 18 months and already have a prototype created (which is available for download on DarkfieldVR’s Kickstarter page). VRBits wants to create more co-op content but needs a little financial help for it. For that, they’ve turned to Kickstarter for $10K.

If you want to give DarkfieldVR some support, please check out their Kickstarter page and Steam Greenlight campaign.
