Everstar, An Ambitious New RPG for PC, PS4, & Xbox One

If you’re a lover of Metroidvanias, roguelikes, or platformers then Kickstarter is a veritable playground for you. RPG fans get their share of goodies too, but not quite as often. Everstar, developed by Psycho Sorted, has just begun seeking funding and looks to be one of the more ambitious game projects seeking crowdfunding lately. For one, it offers a fully 3D environment, will have an all-star voice actor cast (if they meet that stretch goal), and offer two battle modes and co-op support. Since the last bit might seem a bit confusing we’ll get into that first.

There are two battle modes: Action and Tactical. As their name implies, they offer different ways to handle fights. Action mode seems poised to please action RPG fans while Tactical provides more careful, thought out battle structure. Interestingly, this is not unprecedented as upcoming AAA RPGs have begun testing the waters with multiple gameplay styles. Of course, there’s more to Everstar than just kicking monster butt.

Players will be able to create their perfect character by pursuing a range of 18 jobs and selecting from some 65 abilities. Even if you heavily pursue a healing path that doesn’t mean that character is only able to be a healer. They can also “kit swap” weapons, which allow them to showcase another skill of theirs. Finally, friends can get together and play Everstar in co-op (housing up to six players).

Psycho Sorted is definitely going all-out with their game. As you might expect, such expansive goals don’t come cheap. Everstar requires a hefty $850,000 to be successfully funded. If it does succeed, gamers can expect to play on PC (presumably just Windows), PS4, and Xbox One.
