You know an easy way to get gamers excited? Say something like this at the very opening of your Kickstarter page: “It’s like Game of Thrones meets Eve Online.” Holy moly, right?! Of course, if you’re here on Cliqist you want a bit more information than just an awesome slogan. Chances are you’ve already seen the Crowfall campaign, but if not let’s give it a look over. Basically, it is an upcoming MMO by some game development veterans (Star Wars: The Old Republic, Ultima Online) looking to create a completely unique strategy experience online.

Players enter a campaign and then go about leveling up, destroying enemies, and crafting goods, for a period of 1 to 3 months. Allegiances may be formed, certain groups may take power from others, but at the end of this time frame the world will be destroyed. Even so, characters themselves will be saved. Players can continue with their same character as they visit other ongoing campaigns. World destruction is meant to keep things fresh so that a small selection of folks don’t continue to dominate (as that would make it very un-fun for everyone else).

However, players will get to exercise control in the Eternal Kingdoms of Crowfall – areas which never destruct. They’re propsoed to have powers to grant lands, raise or lower taxes, and other aspects. It sounds cool, although we’ll have to wait and see about its official implementation. Crowfall needs to raise $800,000 on Kickstarter to succeed and chances are it’ll make that before the week is up.
