If you’re a fan of YouTube channels all about video games then you may have seen John “Gamester81” Lester before. Although I’ve lessened my video consumption over the last few years, I definitely used to watch his content alongside many other great folks. Under the company Collectorvision, he is at work creating a brand new SNES game titled Sydney Hunter and the Caverns of Death. This action/puzzle/platformer puts you into the shoes of intrepid adventurer Sydney Hunter as they explore dangerous caverns. With only a simple boomerang, players will need to be very careful to survive the adventure.

Interestingly, this Kickstarter campaign spends very little time actually describing Sydney Hunter and the Caverns of Death. Instead, its main focus is on luring in retro game collectors with the promise of physical copies (created via brand new SNES carts – not repurposed ones) and super limited editions. For example, a blue-colored cart will only have 150 copies made while a gold cart will be limited to 75 of the most devoted Kickstarter backers. Heck, there’s even a potential arcade machine thrown in for fun.

As a physical collector myself I can’t help but feel the allure of a gold cart copy – despite not knowing if I’d ever even play or really enjoy the game! Given the developer’s name of Collectorvision they obviously know how devoted game collectors are and have created a campaign accordingly. Of course, general gamers might dig Sydney Hunter and the Caverns of Death too! If stretch goals are reached the game will make it to PS4, Wii U, and Xbox One. Right now they just need to focus on reaching the funding goal of $10,000.
