Picture a future where the land is irradiated wasteland and the entire remaining human population is holed up in huge towers of chrome and pretty much all needs are met in a near utopian state. Now imagine each self sustaining tower at proverbial war with each other. Now you’ve got the basic idea of what to expect from the “twin stick” shooter Tower 57.

Tower 57

Now narrow down the conflict to between two towers. In Tower 57 you play as one of six mercenaries tasked with infiltrating the titular tower and discover what nefarious plans they’ve got hatching there and deal with it by any means necessary. And if it means toppling it to the ground so be it. Three of them have already been talked about in the main pitch. You’ve got the Beggar, the Politician (complete with Abraham Lincoln features), and, finally, you’ve got the Don. And each has their own special abilities that will help you out in taking down the tower.

Tower 57

Being a shooter, Tower 57 features a plethora of weaponry and enemies to use them on. Your goal is to take them all down, cause mayhem, and get to the root of what’s going on there. And everything in the environment is destructible. Which means you can go on a shooting spree and cause some major collateral damage. Shoot, shoot, and shoot some more. That’s the name of the game here.

I’ll have to admit that I’ve never been much of a fan of shooters, but I do have to say that Tower 57 has an interesting premise. I am a big fan of Cyberpunk and post apocalyptic tales but I never thought that a top-down action game could do either genre justice. Besides, there’s just something about going on a murderous rampage that I think is worth exploring. Plus, dinosaurs. You can never have too many dinosaurs.
