I’m no stranger to the weird and macabre. In fact, I relish in it. The stranger and otherworldly the better. In the case of Inner Chains, this certainly fits the bill as it looks like a wonderfully twisted look at what man has wrought in a distant future or a distant planet where we have apparently knocked ourselves either out of existence or back to the stone age. Either way we paid the price and nature is picking up the pieces of our hubris. At least that’s what I got out of the pitch.

Inner Chains

What I absolutely love about Inner Chains is that it seamlessly blends together nature and technology in a sort of biomechanical biodome that’s eerily reminiscent of another dark crowdfunded game that I found completely captivating in Tormentum. The dark colors and disturbing creatures help to enhance a world full of strife and a humanity struggling both to survive and reclaim their lost home. The main difference between these two titles is that this one is a first person shooter and the latter one being adventure.

Inner Chains

A good number of FPS games are starting to get heavy on the narrative and Inner Chains is most certainly not lacking in that department either. Between the visuals and the story this one promises to be an extremely dark and disturbing tale about who we are and what we can become if our pride is left unchecked. I certainly don’t shy away from action games, especially in a genre like this, and having a whole world of strange creatures and mad factions of people are enough to get me to keep an eye on this one. The darker and creepier the better.
