I don’t like to talk negatively about a project creator, especially one that I’ve come to like. Sadly, Purin Productions second outing leaves much to be desired. White Violin looks like an interesting take on gothic horror, but the pitch is sorely lacking. Outside of a few screenshots there’s really nothing there, which is a shame. If there were more, I’d probably back this one instantly.

White Violin

What I don’t understand is why a company with one successful Kickstarter already under their belt can be so lazy in laying out a campaign page. We literally know nothing about the plot of White Violin beyond something about a violin that chooses its player. Sure, there’s a demo but not everybody is going to play it. Even worse, someone might see it and think that they’re amateurs that don’t know how to run a campaign.

White Violin

Here’s the thing: I’ve enjoyed Vision of Aurora Borealis, at least the demo for it. The campaign for it was good enough to get me to back it. With what’s there for White Violin, I’m not sure that I’d feel comfortable giving them money a second time without a major overhaul of the campaign.

I do wish Purin Productions the best of luck, but I’m wary to do anything but star White Violin until I see more. Outside of a mention of their previous game, anyone coming across this one wouldn’t know anything about them. There isn’t even an “about us” section, let alone story.
