Aeon Dream Studios has been hard at work on their debut otome visual novel, Mystic Destinies: Serendipity of Aeons. While the project was successfully funded on Kickstarter, it did not raise enough to unlock its stretch goal sequel. With the first game nearly complete, Aeon Dream has returned to Kickstarter for their second project, Mystic Destinies: Echoes.

Mystic Destinies: Echoes takes place in the same dark epic, urban fantasy world of its predecessor. The developers are seeking $7,200 on Kickstarter to complete the project.

The original Mystic Destinies: SOE is an ongoing otome with the first three chapters currently free on Steam. After trying out the game, players can purchase DLC to complete the main story with the character of their choice. Four of the five possible character routes are already available, with the final still in development.

The Total Package

Mystic Destinies: Echoes will be more straightforward in its sales plan. Rather than having to piecemeal the story together as it’s released through DLC, Echoes will be launched as a complete game. This includes the base story with all five main routes, roughly 15-25 hours worth of gameplay.

Instead continuing the story from the first game, Mystic Destinies: Echoes will follow a new adventure. Featuring antagonists and minor characters from Mystic Destinies: SOE, players will help the rare winged Sylph, Aurelia and her companions stop an ancient and immensely powerful threat.

Out With The Old, In With The New

It may seem a bit eager of the developers to jump right into a new campaign while they are still wrapping up their last project. Normally, I’d agree with this assessment. But Aeon Dream has already proven more than capable of delivering on what they promise in a timely fashion. It also helps that they will release the final routes, deluxe edition, and previous Kickstarter rewards before fully diving into work on Mystic Destinies: Echoes. They are planning to have both projects complete by this summer.
