Next week, E3 attendees will get the chance to check out the sequel to Mouldy Toof Studio’s hit prison break sim, The Escapists 2. Part two features familiar elements from the first installment set apart by a more robust combat system and flashier art style. Players have a lot to look forward to in the new and improved Center Perks State Prison. Now if only we could get a release date.

Perhaps the most exciting addition to The Escapists 2 is the introduction of both co-op and versus multiplayer modes. Up to four players will be able to either work together or against each other locally or online while trying to unlock one of the newly created escape routes.

Mouldy Toof has added over 300 customization options for players to create their perfect crew. The drop-in, drop-out feature lets friends join in to help pull off more complicated escapes. They’ll need all the help they can gather as the upgraded prison features multiple levels and a whole host of new items to craft and hobbies to master.

Coming Soon(?)

Apart from a tentative 2017 release window, publisher Team17 has kept quiet about when the game will launch on PC and consoles. With a highly anticipated Switch release confirmed, perhaps they plan to set a date during E3? Fingers crossed.
