Lifeforms evolve based on their environment, and in Ecosystem, you get to control that environment. By making small changes you’ll prompt the creatures within to evolve over time. Want a more hands on approach? Take direct control, breeding creatures with the traits you like.

The game features swimming mechanics which require creatures to realistically propel themselves through the water. This makes it important to select the right characteristics, to keep your newly minted species afloat. If your creature isn’t able to move very well, passing on its meticulously crafted genes will be difficult.

An Online Content Ecosystem

Ecosystem will offer a way to share the creatures you find or create in an online database for the world to enjoy. Players can also manage a shared ecosystem online with friends. This mode offers a competitive aspect as players try to dominate the food chain while driving their friends’ creatures extinct.

A Kickstarter campaign recently launched for Ecosystem, and the developer has set a goal of $20,000 for the project. A trailer and plenty more information about the game is available on the Kickstarter page, so check it out if this sciency god game interests you. Be sure to keep up with the game’s development on Twitter and Facebook as well.
