Hellpoint has received a new trailer just in time for PAX East. The trailer is all gameplay and features some shots of co-op action. You can also catch some hints at the story via an enigmatic voice over.

Hellpoint is a third-person action RPG that leans heavily into a dark sci-fi aesthetic. It looks like it fits into the Soulsborne genre, with quickstep dodging, big weapons, and bigger bosses.

Dangerous To Go Alone

The stand-out features for Hellpoint are the local co-op, mentioned above, and the real-time elements. Local splitscreen co-op is somewhat rare for these types of games. It’s refreshing to see

The game takes place on a space station which is orbiting a supermassive black hole. The position of the station relative to the black hole will affect the station in a few ways.

For one thing, the sanity of the inhabitants on the space station will change. Enemies can become more wild or afraid depending on the current orbiting position. According to tinyBuild, there are “dozens of other mysterious events” that orbiting the black hole can cause.

Formerly, Hellpoint ran a successful Kickstarter campaign in 2017. Now, in 2019, the game is slated for release across Steam, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and Nintendo Switch. PAX East attendees can get their first chance to play this week in Boston.
