Every week we take a brief look at all of the Kickstarter video game campaigns that launched in the previous week. This isn’t to say that all of these projects are worth your hard earned cash, but with any luck having all of them in one place will make it easier to educate yourself on the projects you’d like to back, and which ones to run from. You’ll find two types of campaigns listed, “featured” and “the rest“. Featured campaigns are those that contain a significant amount of game information, are from known developers, or are significant in some other way. The rest of the games are usually smaller campaigns that are lacking in information, are from unknowns, have unanswered questions, or have not yet stood out for one reason or another.
Featured Campaigns :
Game : A More Beautiful World
What it is : Serena wrote: “In A More Beautiful World you have two factions that, more or less, are at odds with each other. On the one hand you have the arcanely gifted magicians and on the other you have the more mundane humans. Being blessed by the heavens the magicians ruled over humans and kind of developed a bit of a superiority complex. To borrow an overly used cliche, power corrupts but absolute power corrupts absolutely. These guys decided that humanity was becoming a bit of an upstart trying to build things instead of willing them into existence and waged war against them for going against nature. Things didn’t turn out all that great for both sides.“
The Rest of the Campaigns :
Project NOR : An FPS with an interesting art style that emphasizes teamwork.
Chromatics : Sure, the funding goal is only $5,000 but there’s nothing shown here except for a very rough workflow image.
Loki – The Stolen Stone : A side-scrolling RPG with a lot of potential. Unfortunately for as great as the visual looks the gameplay footage feels like it’s playing in slow-motion.
Legend of Elanor : Lovely looking platform style RPG, just wish the Kickstarter had more information.
Wanda – A Beautiful Apocalypse : Sci-fi puzzle game that seems like it’s just as much an adventure-RPG as it is a puzzler.
The Prophecy OF JOB : 16 bit style RPG Maker game.
Tosers : I’m not entirely convinced that the cover image isn’t lifted from somewhere else. Searching ‘Fantasy Town’ on Google results in the image popping up a few times. Shame there’s no other info on the game.
MEDiAN – The Colony : For a game due for release in August 2016 there’s very little shown here, makes me nervous.
Guardians of Peru : Back again with a new Kickstarter! Only this time instead of a $5,000 funding goal it’s a $5 one.
Smashdown Football 2 : Yet another football game, except this time there’s nothing shown.
Abacus : Crazy looking platform shooter that looks like it could be a lot of fun.
Escape from the Abyss : The developer says he’s been working on the game for “a couple years,” but doesn’t show anything.
Allegheny : I’ve never seen a campaign with so much info in it that shared so little of the game being funded. Sure, there’s lots of text explaining it, but no game to see yet.
Blades of War : This fairly rough looking MMORPG is back for a third time to try and get funding.
Mini Racer : I love top-down racers like this, but the camera in this game is so far away that you can barely see the cars.
Acid Trip Playground : This developer is asking for $50,000 and showing nothing in return.
CityLife : A lot is said about the game, unfortunately nothing is shown.
Canvas : Some interesting concepts in this game, but unfortunately there’s not much shown; and what is shown has a mid-90’s CG plastic look to it.
