Sometimes, a title tells you everything you need to know about a game. Chainsaw Ninja in Space is about exactly that: a ninja in space that wields a chainsaw. Not the quietest weapon for a ninja to use, but it gets the job done.
Chainsaw Ninja in Space is a stealth game. As the titular ninja, you accept missions and contracts and sneak onto space ships to find your targets. You’ll sneak using a wide variety of skills and tools, where every action you take is potentially traceable. However, if all else fails, you can whip out the chainsaw and commit robot murder.
The campaign boasts many unique ways to tackle your objective. For example, you could enter the opposite side of the space ship, plant booby traps, and then set them off. This draws enemies to that area, creating an easier path to your target.
One unique aspect of Chainsaw Ninja in Space is its perspective. It plays as a 2D sidescroller, but utilizes a 3D environment. Perhaps the easiest way to describe it is that it’s a sort of on-rails system. It’s like Killer 7, but with a sidescrolling perspective instead of over-the-shoulder.
It’s worth noting that Chainsaw Ninja in Space is still in its very early stages of development. As such, it looks a little… rough. But the developer hopes to release the game in Spring 2019 with your help. As a show of good faith, the developer links to a playable movement and stealth prototype.
