I’m always looking for a new and interesting adventure game. I also love a good Cyberpunk story. Even better would be if it has some sort of hacking element. And it looks like Ama’s Lullaby has plenty of all three. All it took was to see another Cyberpunk adventure to make me look closer at it. I have to say I’m impressed with what’s been shown off so far. Certainly enough to back it without a second thought.
Just like most titles in this genre, Ama’s Lullaby tells a tale about technology and perhaps some weird dystopian underpinnings. The latter isn’t outright stated, but it does read as something strange going on in the background. Ama is a young hacker, and it’s up to her to uncover the truth. Or something like that. I’ll admit the backstory isn’t too deep right now, but it’s enough to make me want to know more.
Aside from the obvious point and click fare, and the Cyberpunk elements, what else has sold me is the hacking elements. I do enjoy a good hacking game. To see it as an integral part to another genre I love was too much not to pass up on. Depending on how well you do, and how careful you are, you can easily mess up. The sense of urgency certainly is an interesting twist.
All in all, I think Ama’s Lullaby has the making of a good game in the Cyberpunk genre. It’s hard to tell right now exactly how it all ties together, but I like to give an indie development team a chance if a project looks good. That said, I do hope the best for this one and I hope it manages to at least get the base goal.
