Everyone remembers Night Trap. It was a ridiculous game for a failed peripheral that eventually made its way right into both the annals of gaming history and… Our hearts. It’s regarded as a cult classic, and even though the Sega CD didn’t do well enough for this game to get a proper run, it’s remained well alive on the internet to this day. Night Trap is actually the reason that we have video game censorship and ratings today, and even though our modern sensibilities would only give the game a PG-13 rating, it was super risque at the time.
For the uninitiated, Night Trap is a game where you play as an observer. You’re a secret agent of sorts controlling a myriad of traps at a slumber party, but instead of trapping the scantily-clad girls at the party, you’re trapping… Ninjas? Monsters? Something like that. You utilize a ton of environmental traps to keep the party girls safe from evil by switching between multiple security cameras and keeping en eye on the bad guys until the opportune moment. There’s also a shower scene, and now the original developers are banding together to let you see all of it in stunning remastered HD.
You want to play Night Trap. You don’t know it yet, but your life will not be complete until you either play it yourself or watch a playthrough. If you like what you see, you’ll probably want to see it remastered in glorious HD, and for that to happen, Night Trap LLC needs to score $330,000. That may seem like a lot, but can you really put a price on a dream come true? Especially if that dream is coming true on PC, Mac, PS3, and Xbox 360.
