TheHum1I have a friend who is absolutely terrified of aliens, so since I’m such a great friend, I decided to show him The HumFor those of you who are hearing that name for the very first time, The Hum is a completely horrifying AAA title being developed for the Oculus Rift. The graphics are phenomenal, the game is a staff pick on Kickstarter, and the idea is original and a little bit mind-blowing.

You play as a human being in the midst of a full-blown alien attack, and while in most cases, that would be followed with “and the only hope for mankind is you shooting a bunch of stuff!”, in The Humyou’re not some huge space marine with an unquenchable thirst for green blood. You’re just a guy, and that guy is terrified of aliens, which makes a lot of sense. They posses technology that we can’t fathom, they have incomprehensible ways of finding us, and there’s no telling what they plan to do with us once they find us. In just one week, everything changed from the normal world we know now to an alien-ruled nightmare, and the tone is very well established. This isn’t inspired by wild imagination. It’s inspired by the developer’s actual nightmares, and it shows.

TheHum2This is one of the most stunning and terrifying projects to ever hit Kickstarter, and it needs your help. It has 55 days left to go, and more than $245,000 NZD left to raise, so if you want to see The Hum become a playable reality, donate to Kickstarter, share this page, and raise awareness for The Humseeking funding for an Oculus Rift-enabled release on PC, Mac, and probably Linux.
