Have you ever wondered why there isn’t a 2D fighting game where you play as animals such as a cow and a reindeer? Well wonder no more as on 21st of September the developers at Mane6 will be launching their project Them’s Fightin’ Herds on Indiegogo. Originally Them’s Fightin Herds started off as a game called My Little Pony: Fighting is Magic which as you can guess involved characters from the My Little Pony franchise, but due to potential legal action from Hasbro they had make some changes. So now they have decided to use original characters and try again.
I’ve actually played Fighting Is Magic, underneath the unusual aesthetics was a solid fighting game. With Them’s Fightin’ Herds Mane6 actually has a bit of help thanks to Lab-Zero Games who made Skullgirls and who had a very successful crowdfunding campaign of their own. In fact, part of Lame-Zero’s campaign was that if they reached a certain goal then Mane6 would get the Skullgirls engine for free.
When the Them’s Fightin’ Herds Indiegogo is launched on September 21st the developers will say more about what they have planned, but for now here is a gameplay trailer.
That was a very smart move on their part to move away from the My Little Pony franchise. I had backed a couple unlicensed MLP projects that were promptly taken down by Hasbro not long after they launched. I’m not a huge fighting game fan, but I might check this one out even if I don’t back it.
It was a good fighting game though really early i am hoping that with the skull girls engine it gives the game a bit of polish and depth
“In fact, part of Lame-Zero’s campaign…”
Dude. Harsh. Lab Zero is great, yo. Skullgirls is fantastic and Indivisible looks super promising, and they do crowdfunding right.
