It seems like I’m still talking about a lot of early adventure games that still need to be released. Thankfully, some of them are starting to see the finish line. One of the still outstanding titles that I’m excited about is Mage’s Initiation, and later this month backers will be able to help test the game before its release to the public.

Mage's InitiationBackers at $70 or higher should be getting messages from Himalaya Studios asking if they want to participate. This will start with the higher level backers and move down the list. This means that, depending on how long this stage lasts, we might see Mage’s Initiation release early next year. I honestly can’t wait to get my tester invitation as I really want to get my hands on the game.

Ever since their early days as Tierra, and their King’s Quest remakes, I’ve fallen in love with their work. Mage’s Initiation was an instant back because of their proven track record. I know that it’s taken about 3 1/2 years in development, so I do hope that it’s worth the wait. Looking at where they are now, it shouldn’t be too much longer.

Mage's InitiationIf there is one thing that I take issue with, it’s that little has been shown of Mage’s Initiation. We have been privy to some screenshots, and an early combat test, but most of the story and gameplay has been under wraps. With the testing phase beginning soon, and me at a middle tier, I look forward to seeing the final product.
