I enjoy playing RPGs of all types, but the turn-based Japanese style has always been my favorite. I also look for quality games with a unique look to their own. For these reasons, I took a close look at 8 Doors. I will say that I like what I see, even if there’s not a whole lot there. Despite some lack of information, it still looks like a great addition to any RPG fan’s collection.

8 Doors

The afterlife, in its many forms, has captivated my imagination. In 8 Doors, you’ll be playing as a young girl out on a journey to save her father’s soul from the land between. In your travels, you’ll meet many interesting characters and fight alongside them or against them. There’s also something about a rogue wraith that disrupted the balance therein. All of this looks to be tied to saving both planes of existence. At least, that’s what I got from the pitch.

The one thing that instantly drew me to 8 Doors was the art style. Whether intentionally or not, it gives off a vibrant Eastern feel to it. Rootless Studio has mentioned that the art is hand scribbled. It does look like a Japanese brush stroke has painted the landscape and characters of this unique RPG.

8 Doors

All in all, 8 Doors has the making of an exciting and epic story. I would love to know a bit more about the setting and plot, but what is there is enough for me to at least keep an eye on it for now. I would also love to know more about the combat and puzzle system. However, updates should hopefully fill these holes in. For now, though, it looks good enough to at least star for now.
