To celebrate the one year anniversary of their 2D action RPG, Hyper Light Drifter, developer Heart Machine is offering a limited physical PS4 edition. Heart Machine announced that they had teamed up with iam8bit for the release, which has a few backers concerned.
All Patched Up And Ready To Go
The special physical edition includes a reversible, gold foil cover insert, printed on heavy weight paper. In addition to the game disc, fans will also receive a full color instruction manual and fold-out map. Production is limited to 9000 copies, which began shipping on April 3rd. The package costs $29.99 and is available from iam8bit.com and iam8bit.co.uk respectively.
Most backers are excited about the special edition. However, a few have voiced reservations regarding the choice to work with iam8bit. The company has had distribution issues in the past which continue to haunt its review sections on various platforms. Their Facebook page is littered with messages from customers who either didn’t receive their orders or received them in poor condition.
Hopefully this release won’t experience any issues. Fans will begin receiving their new Hyper Light Drifter PS4 limited physical editions in the coming weeks. So far there is still no news regarding a Nintendo Switch version, but backers remain hopeful.
