The Nintendo Switch continues to prove itself an attractive platform for indie fans, this time for the Zelda-inspired Blossom Tales.
In a post made to Twitter by the game’s publisher FDG Entertainment, it was revealed Blossom Tales: The Sleeping King’s Nintendo Switch port surpassed its lifetime Steam sales twice over after its launch day alone.
Woah! #BlossomTales sold double the amount of units on #Switch launch day vs. lifetime sales on #Steam (!) Big thanks to the #NintendoSwitch community and @NintendoAmerica @NintendoEurope ! Developed by Castle Pixel Entertainment and originally released on Steam on March 28, Blossom Tales is an action adventure game inspired by The Legend of Zelda. Set in a tale told by a grandfather to his grand children, players take the role of the Knight of the Rose, and explore a wide open world, fighting enemies and exploring dungeons to save the kingdom of Blossom from eternal darkness.
Blossom Tales is only the latest title to see a highly positive reception on the Switch. In its Switch launch day sales alone, The Flame in the Flood matched one percent of its total sales across 19 months and three other platforms. Likewise, Oceanhorn: Monster of the Uncharted Sea, originally released November 14, 2013, sold twice as many copies on Switch as it did on the four other platforms it saw ports on combined.
Blossom Tales: The Sleeping King is currently available on Steam and the Nintendo eShop for $14.99.
It’s great to see so much support for indies on Nintendo’s newest console. Considering how many independent developers are fans inspired by older titles from Nintendo’s expansive older libraries, their titles are a perfect fit for the company’s newest console, something players will hopefully continue to show with their support.
