starpulsar2A remarkably small studio under the name Creative Games is seeking funding for its final and most ambitious project, a 12 episode RPG in the tradition of Star Ocean called Star Pulsar. The concept is simple, and the execution seems promising, especially considering the game’s low Kickstarter goal of £150. The game will be highly story-driven and feature multiple playable characters, each with their own progressions and fighting styles.

The combat will be entirely classic RPG turn-based combat, and other gameplay elements will be mixed in, such as free-roaming gameplay, multiple conversational options, and the ability to play a unique and interesting card game when you’re not fighting off alien hordes or moving through space in your own space ship. The tried-and-true RPG elements that made the genre a force to be reckoned with in the 90s are still here in all of their strategic glory, and so little is known about the title so far that there’s no telling what could be in store.

Star Pulsar is currently seeking funding on Kickstarter with a remarkably low goal, and although the game is simple at its core, it still has the potential to tell a powerful story. The campaign looks sketchy, to say the least, but Creative Games has already released games of this type, and backers can receive things like MP3 players loaded with the game’s sound track and Android tablets.
