dukesofwar3Hexagon-based strategy games have fallen to the wayside a bit, despite their massive popularity in the 80’s, 90’s, and early 2000’s. This format is still very much alive in the world of tabletop games, but the expensive and time consuming nature of tabletop games has limited its audience, so the team at Mosaic Mask Studios is attempting to revive that lost magic in video games once more. Dukes of War is being designed to bring the deep strategy of hex-based games into the modern age, and is currently in development for iOS and Android devices.

The game is on track to be very expansive, with over 90 unique unit types, a branching storyline, and multiple playable factions. The gameplay will also introduce gameplay elements that you wouldn’t expect from a turn based strategy game as well as upgradable special abilities for each unit. The game will feature impressive environmental and unit designs complemented by well composed music and a multi-faceted storyline with branching paths – both on the map and in the decisions you can make outside of combat.

Dukes of War is currently seeking funding on Kickstarter, and under development for an iOS and Android release, meaning you can play on the go, and a replayable and customizable experience will keep you playing as you find different and better ways to overcome the armies of the undead. Backer incentives include Beta access, soundtracks, and in-game currency.
