Thanks to modern society, many of us feel compelled to keep a smartphone on us at all times. This means we’re only moments away from gaming. A new Android and iOS game by the name of Combo Queen just landed on Kickstarter and might be up the alley of smartphone gamers. As with most games on those platforms it’s a touch-based title with a bit of strategy.

The game stars Queen, a psychotic killer (as most video game protagonists are!) who must fight through hordes of enemies to attain a high score. Combo Queen has a retro pixel art aesthetic and a 2D sidescrolling. Players maintain a combo by attacking enemies once a gauge closes in on said enemy. When the opponent attacks, touching the screen with two fingers instead of one allows Queen to parry. Finally, when the burst meter is full, touching the screen with three fingers activates her special attack. This action gameplay is fast, simplistic, and should prove enjoyable in short bursts.

Here’s hoping that once Combo Queen is ready for launch that they don’t focus too heavily on Queen as a cute character. After all, the game itself seems fun enough to not require sexualized advertisement (as the campaign currently does). In any case, prospective backers should note that their pledge is for an iOS copy only. It appears that the Google Play Store doesn’t allow for giftable codes and copies like Apple’s market does.  Those with an iOS device (or simply want to make Combo Queen a reality) can pledge toward its $5,000 goal.
