So, the ridiculous modern-retro FPS game STRAFE just launched its Kickstarter campaign in a climate where very few FPSes ever dared trudge. Now we’ve got word of another retro-inspired shooter on the crowdfunding site! RetroBlazer takes things in a different direction though, providing something that draws on classic ideals but could only ever exist in the present day. This is thanks to its incredibly speedy gameplay and attractive, super colorful graphics. It’s also poised for Windows, Mac, and Linux computers.
Players must be quick on their feet, dodge bullets, and kick serious butt against the nefarious Judgment Legion. All characters have an anthropomoprhic design reminiscent of Egyptian themes which certainly gives RetroBlazer a distinct feel. Players will be able to upgrade each weapon in their arsenal (based on aspects such as speed, damage, range, and accuracy). Apparently you’ll also be able to augment weapons with special abilities although there’s not much description provided about this facet.
It’s definitely safe to say that not a ton of games in the FPS genre approach the world with such a brightly-colored palette. However, more needs to go into RetroBlazer’s pitch to really sell it. This is a 10 year passion project we’re talking about – so showcase some of that unbridled passion! What truly makes this such an amazing game that everyone needs to play aside from cool aesthetics? Sometimes campaigns can succeed without ever truly conveying what’s special – but when you’re asking for $110,000 you might as well go in with gusto. Those who are unable to pledge can still help get the word out by upvoting the title on Steam Greenlight.
