Following the positive news that refunds would be issued for the cancelled Rocket Ranger Reloaded game, developer Cinemaware has announced details of how backers can apply to be reimbursed. Crucially Kickstarter itself doesn’t have the facilities to arrange refunds so the process has to be done the old fashioned way – by emailing the developer with your details. Any backers who want a refund are advised to email refunds@cinemaware.com with their Kickstarter details, the amount they originally pledged and their PayPal details. Backers who are looking for an alternative refund method are out of luck as PayPal is the only option available so if you haven’t got an account you’ll have to find a friend or family member who does.

Rocket Ranger Reloaded is an update to the classic Cinemaware action game Rocket Range and it's on Kickstarter.

The interesting thing to note here is backers will get the entirety of their pledge refunded, despite the fact Kickstarter have already taken their cut of 10% from all pledges when the campaign was finished. This means Cinemaware will potentially  end up having to pay out that extra 10% from their own pocket which could add up to almost $9,000 if everyone applies for refunds. That is a big ‘if’ though as many backers will probably forget or be too lazy to send in their details, while numerous backers have already indicated they won’t be applying for refunds and are happy for Cinemaware to keep their pledges and for the money to go towards future projects.

It’s been a week since I sent in my request for a refund and I haven’t heard back yet but Cinemaware have confirmed all refunds will be issued by 31st December, so backers are encouraged to send in their details as soon as possible.
