I’m probably going to get lynched for saying this, but I have never played a Fable game. Sure, I know what it is and I’ve been meaning to check it out, but it’s not high on my list. Now, before you go grabbing your torches and pitchforks hear me out. Even though I know very little about the franchise I still had to check out a new CCG based on the series called Fable Foundry.

Fable FortuneThis game just launched on Kickstarter and is being developed by several former members of Lionhead Studios, the company that did the previous games. So, we know that at least the cards and play style are going to be familiar to veteran players. Also, the fledgling company working on Fable Fortune has mentioned that they got the license to do the game from Microsoft. Which means that there shouldn’t be any issues down the line.

Fable FortuneWhile my knowledge of the source material is admittedly limited, as a huge CCG buff, I still find myself attracted to what they have planned should they get the money to finish development. Not only is there the standard one-on-one matches but there will also be co-op with two players against an enemy AI. And, should it make the stretch goal we might also see a single player campaign or something. In fact, based on what I know Fable Fortune should have both CCG and RPG elements blended together.

If you haven’t already tried to storm my castle yet then I will point out here that Fable Fortune looks like a great addition to the genre and one that I want to keep an eye on. It also makes me finally want to pick up the actual Fable games themselves and play through them.
