There is something to say about a child’s imagination and the whimsical adventures that they go on before being hindered by the “real world” of adulthood. Not yet constrained by physics and such anything can become real for them, no matter what they can think up. And I’m certain I’m not the only one that enjoys delving into possibilities unfiltered as Nimbi aims to bring us back to our childhood innocence.

NimbiNimbi tells the story of one such young kid and his epic journeys with his best friend and pet when one day he somehow loses his friend and so the game begins with the titular character searching for that which he lost. This is a game that is firmly rooted in imagination but it also sounds like it deals with how our protagonist grows as a person as he dons various animal onesies with special powers in these colorful and often surreal landscapes.

I’m a huge fan of games that try to take a genre like action adventures and gives unique gameplay features and a compelling story. In the case of Nimbi it’s solving puzzles in ways that we as adults would find fantastical outside of a video or roleplaying game and even then most of those tend to be rooted in real world physics and concepts. Here you’ll be forced to think back to your childhood and try solutions that you wouldn’t think of otherwise.

NimbiAll in all, Nimbi looks like a great game with interesting concepts and gameplay and one that looks to be perfect for all ages. No matter how old you are you can still find your inner child to make it to the end. And we need more games like this to stretch our own imagination.
