Ever since I was young, I loved playing Sierra adventure games. The Space Quest series has always been my favorite. It should go without saying that, despite four years and change, I’m still excited for SpaceVenture. Of course, my excitement has waned recently as even my patience has limits. With the latest update, we were treated to the current state of the game’s development.
There is a lot of information contained in the update, but the main thing to get out of it is SpaceVenture is still being worked on. It also looks like outside of bug squashing and some polishing it’ll be ready for beta testing soon. So, if you’re one of the lucky ones that put in for testing, be on the lookout. The majority of the main bugs look to be with their “event system” engine. As the project has evolved, so has the need to go back to old puzzles to streamline them to work.
More Issues
Another major setback has been in regards to personal issues surrounding Scott Murphy. I won’t go into any detail in respect to the man as well as I don’t have all the facts. However, it hasn’t helped on the story front. Also, there are issues with voice acting as there is currently a SAG-AFTRA strike. Apparently, they can’t do anything with that until it’s over.
Of course, if you’re reading this I’m sure the biggest question you have is when will SpaceVenture release? I know I want to know. However, there is no hard date set other than “Soon” (TM). Once it’s in the hands of backers, and any bugs found squashed, it’ll only be a matter of time before the public can play it. In the meantime, just read the update and wait.
