If there’s one thing you guys know about me, it’s that I adore ridiculous, eyesight-ruining levels of shiny objects. One of my favorite things to do on a regular basis is turn a match of Warframe into an insane death tornado of lasers and explosions. What I’m trying to say is that I like seeing cool things more than I like preserving my ability to see colors, and I’m always grabbed by a decent splash of color, especially when that splash of color erupts into a literal flood of gems raining from a boss carcass as it falls to the ground. I speak, of course, of the fun and chaotic Cavern Kings, a game of powerups, unique guns, and perpetually increasing difficulty.
Let me throw a few names out there. Super Crate Box. Spelunky. Cave Story. These three indie darlings (and I don’t use that word lightly) are the foundations of what Cavern Kings really is. It’s a maddening, exploding festival of destructible environments, mining, flying worms, and oh my God there’s a playable demo right on the Kickstarter. I’ll be right back.
Aaaaaaaand we’re back. That was really fun, and I’ll be recording gameplay soon watch it here, so if you don’t have the time to play right now, why not subscribe to our YouTube and wait some commentated gameplay? Either way, Cavern Kings is an absolute joy to play, there are tons of collectible items, the controls are tight, and the demo put together by the developers is already more or less a full game.
To check out Cavern Kings, play the demo I just played, back the project, see some animations and gameplay, or just learn more, you can visit Kickstarter and feast your eyes. If developers Vine reach their modest $2,500 funding goal, you can expect to see this arriving on PC (and possibly other platforms).
