It’s been a long journey, but Hyper Light Drifter is finally nearing its March 31st release date. Launched in September 2013, the game found massive support in the Kickstarter community, going on to raise $645,158 across 24,150 backers.

The new trailer showcases the vibrant, colorful art style, arresting imagery and dreamy soundtrack that have defined the project from day one. Hyper Light Drifter‘s gameplay has clearly come a long way from the original pitch video, with fast and fluid combat proudly on display (as opposed to the calm environmental exploration and slower-paced fights featured prominently in the early footage).

Good for developer, Heart Machine. They’ve clearly put a lot of love and labor into this project, and it shows. If there’s even a single disappointed backer out there, I’ll be surprised.

The game will launch first on PC, with console versions coming later in the year. For more on Hyper Light Drifter, check out the game’s Kickstarter page, as well as the latest update.
