Strategy games are well known for the meticulous planning and time commitment they often require. Mobilizing strategy games and quickening them isn’t still fairly uncommon, with most titles still requiring a high level of commitment. Nova Heartbeat, a group of DigiPen alumni, have decided to quit their full time jobs and change things up by creating a mobile strategy game that goes against the norm.
Spirit Siege is a real time PVP mobile strategy game for iOS and Android devices. In Spirit Siege, players go against one another in a tower defense fashion, using a deck of cards to use versatile characters, attacks, and defensive moves against their opponent. Spirit Siege is designed to take moments to learn and minutes to play, heightening the convenience of the mobile play. It’s a quick and simple strategy game on the go.
Though Spirit Siege’s gameplay is short and simplistic, to master it requires much time and dedication. There are a limited number of spaces available on the playing grid and many times there are obstacles in the way to work around. Distance. Direction. Character/Class. Timing. Players will constantly be considering these components during their battle to achieve victory over their opponent.
Nova Heartbeat has been developing Spirit Siege for roughly 10 months, using their personal savings to work full-time on the project. Currently, Spirit Siege is in its Pre-Alpha state and has a long way to go. To which Nova Heartbeat turns to crowdfunding through Kickstarter for $50k to fund the remainder of the development. This will mainly cover art, programming and licensing assets. If additional funding is met ($60k total), Nova Heartbeat plans to implement a single player campaign mode as well.
