We’ve talked about the Kickstarter funded horror survival game Last Year a couple times here on Cliqist.  First there were some concerns with how the game was being funded, and how prepared the developers were to deliver on their promises.  Then we speculated on whether or not Last Year, in which you either play a killer or a teenage survivor, was related to the recently announced Friday The 13th game.  As of a few minutes ago we have confirmation that Last Year is not the same game as Friday The 13th.  The folks at Crystal Lake Entertainment, owners of the Friday The 13th rights, feel the Kickstarted funded Last Year is just a little too similar.  An update was just sent to backer informing them of the following:

Last Year – 5 vs 1 Multiplayer Survival Horror is the subject of an intellectual property dispute.

This is a message from Kickstarter’s Integrity team. We’re writing to inform you that a project you backed, Last Year – 5 vs 1 Multiplayer Survival Horror, is the subject of an intellectual property dispute.

The law requires that we remove the project from public view until the dispute is resolved (please see our Copyright Policy and Trademark Policy for more info). Because the project already ended successfully, your pledge hasn’t been affected. The creator should still be able to move forward with the project (and send any unfulfilled rewards). If you have any questions, though, you can still message the creator from the project page.

If you visit the Kickstarter page you’ll get the IP dispute, which states:

Last Year is being called to task by the creators of Friday The 13th.As of this writing the official Last Year subreddit doesn’t have any additional details, but we’ll keep you posted.
