The end is nigh! No, wait it’s already here – Sheltered was released for PC, Xbox One and PS4 on 15th March 2016 and this post-apocalyptic survival sim has got off to a strong start. Official reviews are still a bit thin on the ground with Metacritic showing one score of 6.5/10 for the PC and four scores of 70% each on the PS4 and Xbox One. However it’s the respectable scores that Sheltered has accrued from gamers, not to mention the comparatively high number of ratings in such a short period of time, that better demonstrates its success.

  • Steam (PC) – ‘very positive’ classification with 84% of the 924 reviews being positive
  • GOG (PC) – rating of 4.4/5 from 15 users
  • PlayStation Store – rating of 5/5 from 33 users.
  • Xbox Store – rating of 3.5/5 from 1,400 users

It’s more good news for UK indie developer Unicube whose Kickstarter campaign for Sheltered attracted critical praise and raised £30,148 ($43,658) which, while relatively modest, was still more than double their target. I admit to thinking at the time that plans to release on PS4 and Xbox One were overly optimistic but I’m happy to be proved wrong with what has been a well-run Kickstarter, even if it was eventually released approximately 10 months later than scheduled.

Sheltered is priced at £10 ($15) on PC, Xbox One and PS4 but is available with a 20% discount on each platform up until 22nd March.
