Smiling Buddha Games has posted an official release window for their upcoming party game, Use Your Words. Funded by 1,065 backers on Kickstarter, the game began as a modest indie project, but has since gained mass market appeal. Due to the success of prototype and alpha versions of the game, Smiling Buddha has teamed up with Screenwave Media for publishing.

So Close, Yet So Far

Of course the new partnership also means new plans. These plans will take time to prepare. The Use Your Words beta will also require more time for additional polish, balance, and quality testing. In a Kickstarter update, Smiling Buddha announced that the game will release at the end of the first Quarter of 2017.

Use Your Words plays like a mash-up between the Jackbox game, Quiplash and Cards Against Humanity. Players compete to come up with the most witty punchline. Prompts are shared on a primary screen before players write in their answers on their handheld device. The mini-games range from just filling in blanks, to mock hashtag wars, and adding subtitles to film clips. Rather than being restricted to a predetermined set of cards, players have to succeed or fail based on their own unique brand of humor.

Kickstarter backers will receive their Steam keys before the game is available to the public. Backers who pre-ordered on other platforms will receive keys for their specified platforms based on previous Kickstarter communications.

Currently the developers are planning to simultaneously launch on WiiU, Xbox One, and Steam. PS4 and Apple TV versions are expected to release shortly thereafter. Official release dates will be announced closer to launch.
