I’ll freely admit I’m not a big “beat em up” fan, nor have I ever really been. That said, I won’t completely pass on a game of this type if there is something interesting there. Die for Valhalla! looks like an interesting and unique game with a somewhat intriguing story. Despite the nature as a beat em up, I do really like the idea behind this one.

Die for Valhalla!

In Die for Valhalla! you’ll be playing as a Valkyrie as she raises fallen Vikings, or possessing live ones. As they fight on her behalf, they will inevitably perish. Which means you’ll have to find another poor soul to torture. Wash, rinse, and repeat. It sounds like a lot of fun, actually.

There is a story somewhere in Die for Valhalla!, but like most action games it looks to be hidden. The overarching story is about the Valkyries discovering themselves and the world around them, or something. The Vikings themselves even have a tale to tell. Between the stories and the setting, even I can find something to like here.

Die for Valhalla!

I am a huge fan of Nordic mythology, so it’s a no-brainer that I really like the concept of Die for Valhalla!. The graphics look cute, and the video is pretty funny, too. I probably won’t back this one, mostly due to finances, but I do sincerely hope they manage to at least get the base funding goal. They’re already over halfway there, so I don’t see this one really floundering.
