Offworld Industries’ Squad, the first-person shooter with a heavy emphasis on teamwork and commincation, has launched the second version of its closed alpha. An update posted to the game’s official Kickstarter page (which helped the project raise $434,805 CAD from 4,458 backers) details the features present in the alpha.

Features include new game modes such as Insurgency and Territory Control, a new scope/attachment system, improvements to the inventory and weapon handling, new HUD and kit role items, and various other minor tweaks to the game.

SquadThe alpha is accessible through the game’s pre-alpha portal, made available to backers of the project. If you missed the Kickstarter and want a piece of Squad, you can head on over to the game’s official website to review purchase options.

According to the project’s official Kickstarter page, Squad ‘recreates the rigors of modern combat in a visceral environment where teamwork and communication are necessary for victory’. Here’s hoping it lives up to its promise, as it’ll need to have something truly special to stand out in the busy shooter market.
